How is Maitre different from SommAI?
SommAI is a focused wine recommendation finder — visitors search and get matched bottles. Maitre is a full concierge: it handles any visitor question (hours, events, policies, directions, food pairing) and maintains a multi-turn conversation. It also comes in three widget presentation modes.
What are the three widget modes?
Answer Bar (topbar) is a persistent strip below your navigation — it expands into a full answer when submitted, ideal for wine catalog pages. Chat Bubble is a floating button that opens a chat panel, unobtrusive until needed. Sidebar is a fixed panel beside the page content, great for immersive browsing experiences. You configure the mode per-site from the admin panel.
How does Maitre learn about my winery?
You provide a wine catalog feed (Google Shopping / BetterSEO XML format), and can add custom knowledge in plain text — tasting room hours, pet policies, event calendar, food offerings, whatever your visitors ask about. Maitre's knowledge generator can also automatically extract info from your website.
What ecommerce platforms are supported?
Commerce7 and WooCommerce are supported for full cart integration. eCellar and custom URL providers are also available. The chat widget itself works on any WordPress site regardless of ecommerce platform.
What AI model powers Maitre?
By default, Claude by Anthropic — chosen for its nuanced understanding of wine language and warm, conversational tone. Admins can switch to Google Gemini from the settings panel if preferred.
Does Maitre store my visitors' conversations?
No. Chat history lives only in the visitor's browser session and is discarded when they leave. Maitre does not build visitor profiles or store search history.
